Disability Emojis Coming to a Device Near You
Icons showing a range of disability emojis such as hearing aids, guide dogs, wheelchairs and walking stick user as well as people with prosthetic limbs are just a few of the recent Apple approved images to be given the go ahead by the Unicode Consortium, the regulatory body that adds and approves these little characters with a total of 59 being made available later this year.
The introduction of these love em or hate em characters designed to represent disability and accessibility has been welcomed with open arms by disability rights campaigners.
The disability emojis characters will be offered for use on a range of devices from Apple, Microsoft, Google and Samsung to be available in varied devices and platforms.
